(Step 5)
Submitting Your Claim for Lost Life Insurance
Now that you have received your reply from the insurance companies and gathered all your documentation, you are ready to submit your claim for benefits. Although this isn't necessary in most cases, it may be required. In this case you will need to complete the forms sent to you by the insurance companies and send in certified copies of all proof requested. It will also be a good idea to both have all documents notarized and have the package sent "Return Receipt Requested." This ensures your request is not delayed and that the request for life insurance is honored expeditiously.
Waiting for Payment on Lost Life Insurance
Sometimes the life insurance companies are fairly direct about getting you paid for your lost life insurance benefits. In these cases you won't even need to submit your claim, and they will automatically send you a check for all benefits owed, usually with interest. If you must send in documentation, then you may need to wait up to 4 weeks to receive your payment. If you still haven't received your lost life insurance money after the 30 day period is over, you should call the company immediately and ask if there is a delay and why.
